Outdoor Survival Skills
2 hours of jam packed outdoor skills instruction. This course starts with a basic discussion of a few very popular outdoor themed books and then quickly moves to learning Outdoor & Survival Skills Hands-On. Students will build a primitive survival shelter, learn how to signal for rescue, create trail markers, and learn how to catch food! We will also be looking at wild resources such as stone tools and bones. The program will end with students learning about Natural Cordage. Each student will receive a small kit with survival items to use throughout the program. They can take these home with them. Please call the library at 920-834-7730 to sign up. Let’s Make Some Fire!
Having an understanding of fire-making skills is essential and can be a lifesaver in a wilderness survival situation. From staying warm in a shelter, creating light, purifying water, and cooking food, survival fire skills are crucial tools for cool climate environments. Anyone who spends time outdoors should be proficient at fire-making. Please call the library at 920-834-7730 to register for this event. Registration is required and space is limited. Anyone age 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult. The adult can participate with the 14-17 year old and will share supplies.
This event will take place at Holtwood Sporting Complex and Park, 115 Holtwood Way, Oconto.
